I'm delighted to learn about this one, and, while checking it on Amazon, about a 2007 book also collected by Brockman--What is Your Dangerous Idea? Today's Leading Thinkers on the Unthinkable. I'll look for them both.

By the way, do the writers in "What We Believe" address the problems of proof and faith faced by scientists in search of Ivory Bills?pinenuthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03252375994501208670noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9004341184414147555.post-1958126729323730082007-08-01T13:24:00.000-07:002007-08-01T13:24:00.000-07:00not really the same as the essays you are referrin...not really the same as the essays you are referring to, but nonetheless a volume your more scientifically-inclined readers just might like is, "What We Believe But Cannot Prove" edited by John Brockman and out a year or two ago. Brockman regularly puts out essay anthologies from leading scientists of the day -- this particular one asks scientists to write about something they believe to be true about the world even though they know they can't prove it -- needless to say, some interesting responses.cyberthrushhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01883119145892591610noreply@blogger.com
